Life after the Navy

Twiss retired in 1970 and served as Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, a key administrative and ceremonial job in the House of Lords, until 1978.

Before he died in January 1994 Twiss recorded over 20 hours of oral history with Dr Chris Howard Bailey at the Royal Naval Museum.
