It's a little humbling to know that everyone assumes you know what you doing and they will totally trust you because you are the captain. And then you want to go and prove that trust is founded and prove that you can do that job. There's an awful lot of professional pride in being able to drive a ship without bouncing it off every wall you come to. And also for the lads there's an awful lot of pride in the fact that whether their captain can drive a ship without bouncing it off every wall they come to. Certainly around the dockyard you'll know which captains can drive ships and which can't and they always like it if their captain can drive it nice and neatly, put it alongside, no problems at all. They can hold their heads high in the dockyard and go, yep that's not our ship that's taken another dent.
