Charles Rutter was born on 6 August 1907 in Manchester. He worked as a packer before volunteering in 1928 for 12 years service in the Royal Navy. He served on 16 different ships and establishments.
The Navy discharged Rutter as missing, presumed to have died on war service, on the 30 March 1944.
