Distinguished Service Order (RNM)
Commander Peterson received the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for his bravery and skill in minesweeping operations during 1940.
Peterson also received the Distinguished Service Cross for his service on the river gunboat, HMS Kiawo, during the Wanhsien Incident in China. This was a military confrontation between British naval forces and Chinese ground troops on 5 September 1926.
